THREE YARDS AND A CLOUD OF DUST
Vince Lombardi declared that leaders are made, not born, and lived a life inspirational to all coaches, producing countless leaders from his influence, both direct and indirect. Coaches are modern mystics, able to convince mere mortals that they can accomplish super-human feats. Great coaches push, inspire, discipline, teach; they create leaders in all walks of life. Coaches are pervasive and therefore often taken for granted, but the older I get the more I realize how profoundly I was impacted by the significant coach in my life, Bobby Banna, head football coach of Comeaux High School. My hypothesis is that the vast majority of Americans can thank one or more significant coaches that profoundly impacted their lives, not just during the actual coaching but for life. To test this theory I did some local research, non-scientific no doubt but clearly supportive of my thesis.
